Our Hawaiian Vacation: The Beginning

For 10 days in the month of July, Matt and I had our first grownup vacation, just the two of us, on the Hawaiian Island of Kauai'i.

SFO at Sun Rise
Our day began early, as we had to catch a 7am flight. Since the BART didn't start running early enough to give us wiggle room with the 2hr preflight check-in, we called a cab to chariot us to SFO. Our cabbie was of East African descent, and was calm as cabbies go, he didn't use his horn but a few times as he flew though the traffic, gliding easily off the freeway towards United Airlines. He helped us with our luggage, and imparted a pocket sized religious book on the meditation of HU which we imparted to a vacant seat in the empty airport.

The flight wasn't too bad. I tired get some much needed reading in, but Joseph Heller proceeded to beat me about the head soundly with his Catch-22 antics. I ended up trying to sleep for most of the five hour flight.
